Commentary

Les Radènoi nous ont laissé un grand nombre de bulles dont Alexandra et Werner Seibt, puis, de manière plus systématique et complète, Maria Campagnolo-Pothitou et Pantelis Charalampakis, ont offert une présentation d’ensemble [1]. Ivan Jordanov a offert pour sa part une liste des bulles mentionnant différents Jean Radènos [2]. Le possesseur de notre bulle, actif apparemment durant les guerres bulgares, semble avoir été le fondateur de la famille. Il est également le seul militaire attesté, la famille se spécialisant ensuite dans l’administration civile. Il est très probable que ce personnage soit à identifier avec l’homonyme honoré du même jeu de dignités qui obtint ensuite le commandement de la flotte impériale [3].
